Country: Central African Republic
About the flag
Central African Republic is correct. Its flag was designed in 1958 by national leader Barthélemy Boganda to symbolize unity: the red band represents the blood that binds all people, while blue, white, green, and yellow stand for freedom, peace, hope/nature, and tolerance/wealth. The palette intentionally blends the French tricolor with Pan‑African colors to reflect both historical ties and African identity, and the yellow star is a “guiding star” toward independence. Memory tip: think “central red stripe = Central African Republic.” It’s the only flag where a single vertical band runs through horizontal bands—an easy visual cue that sets it apart from similar options like Chad’s plain vertical tricolor or The Gambia’s neat horizontal stripes.
