About the flag
Colombia is correct because its tricolor has a distinctly wider yellow band over blue and red—unlike Brazil’s green field, Paraguay’s tricolor with emblems, or El Salvador’s blue-white-blue. Don’t confuse it with Ecuador or Venezuela: those share similar colors but add a coat of arms or stars. The colors trace back to the pan-American ideals of Francisco de Miranda and the era of Gran Colombia (adopted in 1861). Yellow often represents Colombia’s gold and natural wealth, blue the seas and sky, and red the blood shed for independence. Memory tip: Colombia = “COlor with extra gOld on top”—the extra-wide yellow stripe sets it apart.
