About the flag
Jordan’s flag follows the Pan-Arab colors and is the only one with a single white seven-pointed star set in a red chevron—an emblem tied to the 1916 Arab Revolt and Hashemite legacy. The star is often said to symbolize the seven verses of the Qur’an’s opening chapter, the seven hills of Amman, and Arab unity. Adopted in 1928, it connects modern Jordan to its formative revolt-era identity. Memory tip: Jordan = “Jor-star-dan”—look for the lone white star. This sets it apart from India’s blue wheel (Ashoka Chakra), Bhutan’s dragon, and Turkmenistan’s carpet motifs.
