Marshall Islands is correct. The flag’s two sweeping diagonal bands—white and orange—represent the nation’s twin atoll chains: Ratak (sunrise) and Ralik (sunset), set on Pacific blue. The white star has 24 points for the country’s districts, with four longer rays marking the main centers, including the capital Majuro. Adopted in 1979, the flag was designed by Emlain Kabua, the nation’s first First Lady. Memory tip: think “two trails, many points”—the two stripes for the two island chains, and the star’s many rays for the many atolls that make up the Marshall Islands.
