About the flag

This is Pakistan’s flag: the Islamic crescent and five-pointed star on a green field signals the Muslim-majority nation, while the white stripe represents religious minorities. Adopted in August 1947 and designed by Amiruddin Kidwai from the All-India Muslim League flag, it encodes ideals—crescent for progress, star for light and knowledge; “Pak” in Urdu means “pure.” Quick way to remember: Pakistan = “P” for progress and a prominent crescent-and-star.
