About the flag

Singapore is correct. Its crescent represents a young nation on the rise, and the five stars stand for democracy, peace, progress, justice, and equality; red symbolizes universal brotherhood, and white purity and virtue. The flag was introduced in 1959 with self-government and retained after independence in 1965. Tip to remember: “Singa-five” — Singapore’s five stars = five national ideals. Don’t confuse it with other crescent flags: Uzbekistan has blue-white-green stripes and 12 stars; Iran features a green-white-red tricolor with script and emblem; Qatar is maroon and white with a serrated divide.
