Tajikistan is the only flag among these with a golden crown topped by seven stars—perfect mnemonic: “Taj” means “crown” in Persian, and Tajikistan is the land of the Tajiks. The emblem symbolizes the sovereignty and unity of the Tajik people, while the sacred number seven stands for happiness and perfection in local tradition. Adopted in 1992 after independence from the Soviet Union, the tricolor carries meaning: red for national unity, white for purity and the snowy Pamir mountains (the “Roof of the World”), and green for agriculture and fertile valleys.
